Your wallet will never get bigger than your heart -- T.D. Jakes
On Sunday, May 21, 2017 the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) will hold it's annual walk/run on behalf of the 500,000 people living with bladder cancer across the United States, and I can speak from experience -- because I was one of them. In August of 2016, I was diagnosed with stage 2 muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
Thankfully, after 4 rounds of chemotherapy, several hospital stays (one lasting as long as 24-days) and a few surgeries (including the removal of my bladder), I give praises to The Most High for I am cancer-free. I still, however, have at least one surgery to go (due to complications) to repair my neo-bladder (which is a bladder reconstructed from the small intestine). These last 9 months have been a long road, but I am ever grateful and feel terrific.
Bladder cancer is the 5th most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States. It impacts both men and women of all ages and races. One in 42 people will be diagnosed with bladder cancer during their lifetime. Bladder cancer also has a recurrence rate of 50-80 percent and because it requires life-long surveillance, it is the most expensive cancer to treat on a per patient basis.
Whatever you can give will help BCAN in providing education and resources for these bladder cancer patients.
I really appreciate your support. Please click here to learn how to get involved.

Some of you may know that I was diagnosed with#BladderCancer last August. What with multiple hospital stays (one for as long as 24 days!!!) and several procedures, I can happily say that I am "cancer-free" (praises to The Most High)!! But I still have to undergo at least one other surgery to repair my new bladder because of complications. That being said, May is "Bladder Cancer Awareness Month" and all month-long I'll be providing some education on risk-factors and symptoms of the disease. This is especially important information for women because many will pass off the symptoms as "something else."
Please be aware that the following symptom can be a sign of other conditions and does not mean that you have bladder cancer. However, you should DEFINITELY discuss it with your health care provider.
Let's begin. Symptom #1:
Blood in the urine (Hematuria). Hematuria may be visible or microscopic and is usually painless. The urine may have a slightly pink or orange hue, or it may be bright red with or without clots. I had blood in my urine, sometimes with clots, but I was fortunate that I took action right away. When I mentioned this to my doctor, she IMMEDIATELY scheduled an appointment with a urologist. That was PARAMOUNT!
Many other conditions may cause blood in the urine, but bladder cancer should be ruled out.
I'll be listing other symptoms in a later post. Thanks for reading. 😄

If you're using the FacyBulka auto-posting platform, then you'll want to be able to create group lists to post targeted messages into specific niches. Tell me, how many time have you let your FacyBulka poster loose only for the admin of a group to tell you, "HEY...you're not supposed to be posting here." Well, you'll never post to the wrong groups again. This short tutorial tells you how to alleviate that problem.
FacyBulka is a real "time-saver." This low-cost poster ($10 for standard; $25 for pro version) will make your life a whole lot easier. Just click Plans & Prices to get started right away.
I've got the good fortune of having a number of people on my Feeder Matrix team living in or around my neighborhood. You see, I live in urban Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York (there are 2.6 million individuals in New York City's most populous borough) and during the ordinary course of doing business, I happened to come across a few of them. That being the case, we were able to get together recently and took the team "offline" and into the streets, because it is SUMMER, you know, and as they say, "the living is easy."
We choose a Monday to do this activity (since it's the start of the week and I figured we could build off of the momentum). Meeting at 8AM, we gathered at the McDonald's on Empire Boulevard to have some breakfast and develop some strategies. Tee Low, from Flatlands, was already at the table when I arrived. I got an Egg-White McMuffin (trying to keep it healthy) and some coffee, and then we began to map out our course of action. Shortly thereafter husband and wife Alvin and Regina (from Brownsville) walked through the doors, ordered their food, and the four of us put our heads together. The local Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York, was a few blocks away and we wanted to target students as well as the community. Also joining the group was Will Right and his daughter Bianca, a young college student herself, coming in from Long Island, who got stuck in traffic on the Belt Parkway. Bianca was our "secret weapon" because students usually like to engage with other students and we figured that she would be "the face." And rounding out the bunch was Derrick from Flatbush.
Some of the "Crew" at McDonald's: L-R, me, Regina, Alvin and Tee Low (with his big smile)
Armed with our flyers, business cards and tear-offs, we made it up to the college. On our way there we spoke to people who were walking around the campus or were parked nearby in their cars, about the benefits of starting a home-based business, and the low-entry cost of joining our Feeder Matrix Team. People were receptive and it was great to engage with the first batch of folks.
L-R, Tee Low, Alvin, Regina, Bianca and Will.

At the college, either Alvin or Regina mentioned the possibility that we might get "shoo-ed" away from the front of the building, so Alvin took the lead by going to speak with security. And sure enough they were correct. We couldn't distribute material at or near any entrance of the campus. So we were told to move across the street. By then Derrick, in his 3-piece business suit and with his clipboard (unintentionally making the rest of us feel a little "under-dressed,") joined the group. Bianca followed some young women into a bodega as Regina borrowed tape from the owner so that Will, her dad, could put his tear-offs on a nearby pole. And "Gentle Giant" Tee Low, began to approach men as they walked by. All of us were getting our footing with this "street approach to marketing." And when we hit our "stride," there was at least one of us always engaging someone on the sidewalk.

Will, Bianca, Alvin Derrick and a member of the community.
By 11:30AM, we moved to the Prospect Park subway station and Tee Low was able to give out his materials which consisted of an application form with information on Feeder Matrixand a "self-addressed stamped envelope." He would tell the prospect that he didn't want to "hold them up," but wanted to get them "information that may be of interest" that they could read while either on or waiting for the train. I loved his technique!
It was a beautiful day to be outdoors. And we realized that marketing our business didn't have to be a one-way street. You can market online or "do it ol skool" and take it offline, but no matter what, we are marketers, who after taking a "brutal beating" with the cold weather this winter, decided to get some much needed sunshine and take our business OUT to the community. It was a success. We planted seeds. And we look forward to doing it again. Maybe even next week!

It's the 28th day of the month. Crap!! Only three days left and you realize that you haven't accomplished the goals you set for yourself at the start of the month. Yep, it's crossed your mind several times during the last three and half weeks -- uh huh, WISHFULLY -- but honestly you ask yourself, "Did I REALLY try hard enough to get those additional enrollments?" Or you think, "What about the follow up with the couple I enrolled last month (you were supposed to ask for a referral)?" And forget about the names you didn't add to your contact list? These were all the things you said you were going to do, but didn't. You've got big "P" stamped on your forehead; PROCRASTINATION.
On day 29, with sweaty palms, you look into the mirror and say, "I've got to get this done," and you remember that you that you haven't yet talked to Betty. Now Betty was someone who had reached out to you earlier in the month because she saw one of your posts on Linkedin, but then you completely forgot about her. Yeah, Betty, your brother's wife's sister's friend who mentioned that her co-worker was looking to do something on the side and she remember that you were now working from home and you said you were loving it. "Jeez," you say to yourself, how in the world did I forget about Betty!! You call, leave a message. She calls and gets no answer. And now you're playing a little phone tag. But luckily when you do connect, she puts you in touch with Jill, and you now have a new recruit into your business. Woot!! Does that always happen? Heck no!! But when it does, you call it "serendipity."
However, it's not over yet. There's one more day left to the month and you need two more enrollments to complete your goal. Can you make it happen? You can only try your best, and I've got two words for you: DON'T QUIT!!
So the 31st roll around and you didn't quite make it. Hey listen...it's okay to reset. It didn't happen this month, but there's always next month. You know that in Network Marketing, it's all a numbers game. And here's the good thing: you didn't give up! Because you know that if you stick to your goals, achieving success means doing something everyday -- no matter how small!
